Trinity Health Senior Communities Announces Repositioning of Marycrest Manor
(February 17, 2021) After a comprehensive operational and financial analysis, Trinity Health Senior Communities (THSC) has made the decision to initiate repositioning of Marycrest Manor. This repositioning starts with the closure of the 98-bed skilled nursing facility located on the Marycrest campus. Marycrest is affiliated with the St. Joseph Mercy Senior Communities (SJMSC.) THSC owns and operates SJMSC. Assisted living community Newburgh Manor and independent living community Marycrest Heights will continue their operations. Upon closure of the nursing home, the facility will renovate existing space for additional independent living residences.
“We have a very proud history of providing our residents and their families with high-quality compassionate service,” said Becky Lund, regional vice president for Trinity Health Senior Communities. “This is a decision we made after careful discernment about the economic challenges we have faced, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and about how best to serve seniors in and around Livonia. Ultimately, we decided to reposition our community in order to focus on its strengths in independent and assisted living,” Lund explained.
THSC has given the required notice to state and local officials and has initiated a process with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs that should lead to the nursing home at Marycrest Manor closing on April 15, 2021. Employees, residents, and resident families have also been notified of the impending closure. “Our top priority is to continue to care for our residents, to honor their choices when it comes to finding a community that will best meet their needs, and to make certain that their transition is as seamless as possible,” Lund said. “Simultaneously, our Human Resources team is poised to assist the colleagues who have been so dedicated to our residents and families by providing them with resources to find new employment opportunities.”
