A Great Place to Call Home

Saint Mary Home, with its open-air courtyards, labyrinth, and views of the campus next door – the Olmsted Brothers-designed University of Saint Joseph landscape – is a beautiful place to live.  What’s more, its proximity to Elizabeth Park, West Hartford Center, and Blue Back Square make it an ideal home base from which to explore all that West Hartford and downtown Hartford have to offer.

Hungry? Caffeine deprived? Craving Mexican, Peruvian, or Japanese? West Hartford is a dining destination. Cora Cora in the Elmwood section of town is a James Beard Foundation Award finalist: one of just five in the nation! Savoy Pizzeria & Craft Bar was recently featured on Barstool Pizza Review. In its March 2024 issue, Yankee Magazine shined a spotlight on West Hartford’s GastroPark and praised its French, Mediterranean, Afghan, Caribbean, Chinese, and American offerings. If you’re looking for that special place for a birthday brunch, anniversary celebration, or ice cream sundae, you won’t have to look far when you’re in West Hartford.

Don’t miss River Bend Bookshop on Park Road, Crown Market in Bishops Corner, or Jerry’s Artarama in Elmwood. There’s a great find – or a dozen of them – in any one of West Hartford’s neighborhoods!

The Elizabeth Park Conservancy is quite literally around the corner from Saint Mary Home. Listed on the national register of historic places, the Park offers more than 100 acres of gardens (including well-known and beloved rose gardens,) green space, walking loops, and the delightful Pond House Cafe. Behold the wildflower meadows, woodland trails, and demonstration farm at Westmoor Park Nature Center. Like to hike or mountain bike? Check out either of West Hartford’s two gorgeous reservoirs. We also boast two public golf courses, four outdoor and two indoor pools, a skating rink, and Jonathan’s Dream: a boundless playground accessible to families and children of all abilities.

“During my stay, I met so many wonderful people…the head nurses on all the shifts were just so caring – compassionate, but still at the same time very professional and upheld in a positive way the human dignity of each client under their care…the supporting staff on all shifts did a wonderful job in caring and being so respectful to the clients in a pleasant way – knowing each client’s individual needs.”
