Memory Care FAQ

Do you have a separate unit for your Memory / Alzheimer’s patients?

Yes.  The Alverno's designated Prairie Rose Memory Care neighborhood features specialized programming, and provides measures to keep your loved one safe.  While all of our colleagues in our community are trained to assist individuals impacted by dementia, those working in this neighborhood receive additional training to provide the added support needed to help individuals impacted by memory loss remain as independent as possible.

What kind of programming / activities do you offer for your memory patients?

A dedicated member of our Life Enrhicment team provides structured programming throughout the day for residents in our memory care neighborhood. Exercise, trivia, music, relaxation and social groups are all part of our daily structured routine. Devotional programs are offered as well. Individual visits with members from our life enrichment team, as well as other colleagues offer additional support to residents.

Are the memory neighborhood rooms private or semi-private?

We have both, however, most of the rooms offer private accommodations.

What makes the memory care Neighborhood different from the other neighborhoods?

Our memory care neighborhood offers features such as additional safety measures to assist individuals who may be at risk of wandering, or those in need of a higher level of care. The life enrichment activities in our memory care neighborhood offer a more structured approach to provide additional support. All colleagues in this neighborhood receive additional training to better understand the dementia process. A separate lounge area within the neighborhood allows for activities, while maintaining a calm, peaceful area for our residents to reside.
